Privacy
The short version: SailNordic is a set of static pages. There is nothing to sign up for, no form to fill in, no advertising, no analytics script and no cookie set by us. We do not build a profile of you and we have nothing to sell to anyone who might want one.
What is recorded when you visit
Like any web server, ours writes an access log. For each request it stores your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the response code, the referring page if your browser sent one, and your browser's user-agent string.
This log exists for one reason: keeping the site up. It is what we use to spot the automated scanners that probe every site on the internet looking for a way in, and to tell a genuine reader from a bot. It is not used to profile visitors, is never sold or shared for marketing, and is deleted automatically after 14 days.
Cloudflare
The site is served through Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network and security layer. Your request reaches Cloudflare's network before it reaches our server, so Cloudflare processes the same connection data described above on our behalf. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie of its own to distinguish humans from automated traffic. That is a technical measure, not tracking, and we cannot read anything from it.
If you email us
Mail sent to [email protected] is routed by Cloudflare Email Routing to a mailbox we read. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful — typically until the question is resolved or the correction is published — and we do not add your address to any mailing list, because there is no mailing list.
Photographs
The photographs on this site are licensed under Creative Commons and are copied to our own server rather than hot-linked, with their authors credited on the image credits page. Viewing them sends no request to the original host.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, and to object to how it is processed. In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold is an IP address in a log file that will expire within a fortnight, plus any email you have chosen to send us.
Our lawful basis for keeping access logs is legitimate interest — specifically, defending the site against abuse. To exercise any of these rights, write to [email protected].
Children
This is a ferry timetable reference. It is not directed at children and we knowingly collect nothing from them.
Changes
If we ever add something that changes the picture above — analytics, advertising or anything that sets a cookie — this page will be updated before it goes live, not after.
