About SailNordic

SailNordic is an independent guide to ferry travel along the coasts of Norway and Sweden, written in English for people visiting from abroad. It is not a booking site and it is not run by any ferry company or tourist board.

Why it exists

Ferries in this part of the world are ordinary infrastructure — the way you cross a fjord or reach an island — but the practical details are scattered across operator sites in Norwegian and Swedish, and the fare rules rarely make sense to a first-time visitor. A tourist arriving in a rental car often has no idea whether they need a ticket, how they will be charged, or which of two similarly named piers their boat leaves from. SailNordic exists to answer those questions in one place, in plain English.

What we cover, and what we don't

We focus narrowly on Norway and Sweden rather than trying to list every ferry in Europe. That lets us go deeper: real crossing times, how often a route runs, who operates it, and the fare system that applies. We deliberately do not invent prices or departure times we cannot verify — where a figure isn't confirmed, we say so and point you to the operator.

No bookings, no affiliate pressure

You cannot buy a ticket here, and we do not push you toward one operator over another. For most Norwegian road ferries there is nothing to book anyway — you drive on and are billed automatically. When you do need to reserve or check live times, we link you straight to the operator.
