Snelandia runs public transport across Finnmark, from Loppa in the west to Nordkapp in the north and Varanger in the east. Two of its rules will strand you if you do not know them: express boats only call where a journey has been booked, and a ticket is not a seat.

Every express boat call in Finnmark is now a request stop
This is the single most important thing to know before travelling here. All express boat calls in Finnmark are signalanløp — request stops. The boat only puts in where a journey has been booked in advance. If you have not booked, the boat does not come to the quay at all. Standing on the pier and waving is not a plan.
There is one exception: the Alta–Hammerfest stretch on route 330, VargsundXpressen, still has fixed calls.
A ticket is not a seat reservation
Buying in advance gets you a cheaper fare and faster boarding, but Snelandia is explicit that it does not reserve you a place. If the departure is full you can still be refused boarding — in which case the ticket is refunded. Popular departures fill quickly on fine summer days, and Snelandia names route 110 towards Nordkapp as the obvious example. Travelling outside the busiest departures is the practical defence.
Cheapest single tickets are in the Snelandia Mobillett app; journeys and tickets also appear in Entur, the national planner. Several routes run their own summer timetables, so the season you are travelling in changes the answer.
Seven days across Finnmark for 990 kroner
The Sommerbilletten gives free travel for seven days on all Snelandia buses and express boats, including the Fleks on-demand service. It costs 990 kroner for an adult and 495 for children aged 6–19, seniors and military, and is sold from 1 June to 24 August through the Snelandia Mobillett app or the online shop.
The seven days run from the moment of purchase, not from first use, so buy it immediately before boarding rather than in advance. Children aged 0–5 already travel free with an adult. And one line in Snelandia's own summary is worth repeating for anyone planning a car trip through Finnmark: the ferries are already free — the summer ticket covers buses and express boats because it does not need to cover ferries.
The pass still does not reserve you a seat. On a request-stop network, the booking and the ticket are two separate things.
