A new boat lifted reliability above 99 percent
Wind is the constraint on this crossing, and the operator is unusually open about it. Cancellation notices on its own site record departures dropped for strong wind — a whole afternoon lost in one case, a morning window in another.
MF Forsand entered service in January and changed that picture: Høgsfjordferja reports that cancellations due to wind fell further after it arrived, and that reliability on the connection now runs above 99 percent. The other vessel on the route is m/f Svelviksund.

If you board MF Forsand for the first time, the operator's own suggestion is to go down to the saloon. A collection of antiques is displayed there from the period when MF Forsand — with its rotatable propellers — was one of Norway's most modern ferries.
